Right on Sir Belvedere: Only scammers and crooks will call "Do not call numbers". If you don't recognise the ID number, then do not answer the call. I am on "Do not call list", but I am also on my own "Do not answer". Good policy to follow....!!!!
You are unfortunately wrong in thinking "the powers that be" could stop these calls if they wanted. VOIP calls sent through the internet are extremely difficult and time-consuming to trace. You need to subpoena every computer network that the call passed through – and that's usually 5-10 networks. And you don't even know what the second network is until you've subpoenaed the first, and you don't know what the third is until you've subpoenaed the second... and so on.
Essentially, the crooks now have the equivalent of the Klingon cloaking device from Star Trek and they're using it to full advantage. The problem is almost entirely technical, not a matter of laws or enforcement.
try thanking them and telling them that you appreciate their helping you as you go through bankruptcy proceedings. Thy'll probably quit calling for a while.
I'm surprised, they actually used the same number twice in a row. Wasn't home to pick up (not that I do pick up numbers where I don't know the caller anyway) but they left no message. Came up on ID as Consumer Services. I'm sure it would have been the usual message had I picked up. What gets me is if this was my final call, why do they keep calling? I am on the "Do Not Call" list but unfortunately that is never going to work on these people because it's all one big scam. I guess the best thing we can do is to not pick up. Maybe eventually their robo-call machines will burn out from overuse.
I agree. I am boiling mad with this joke of a business! They call constantly. I am on do not call list. I have requested they take me off their list. I have screamed loudly into the phone. I have yelled at them. They won't stop calling. Now they hang up when i begin to ask them a question. What a lousy job. How can these people feel good about what they do.? I think i will join you and take the landline off. I'm annoyed beyond words.
