Right on Sir Belvedere: Only scammers and crooks will call "Do not call numbers". If you don't recognise the ID number, then do not answer the call. I am on "Do not call list", but I am also on my own "Do not answer". Good policy to follow....!!!!
The DNC was created and exists today for only one sole purpose and that is to"limit" the number of sales call by legitimately Registered with the FTC American businesses to those on the list. The DNC is just a "list". A list maintained by the FTC and required to be purchased and updated monthly by those Registered businesses. It is not a law enforcement agency. It does nothing else. It keeps the honest.....honest. It does as Sir B. Described....and nothing more. You're not delusional, just not informed. You can cure that by going to the FTC/DNC site and reading.
I'm alleging that many of these CONSUMER SVCS calls originate as SPOOF CALLS from Collection Agencies. Think about it. In order to do that job what kind of person are you in the first place? Due to illness I had a very hard time for a couple of years after having worked and meticulously paid my bills for 40 years. I had the misfortune to be diagnosed with a chronic but manageable disease at a much younger age, but a few years ago I became extremely ill & could not work. A collection agency, PATENAUDE & FELIX, haunted me each and every day by phone even though I maintained good contact with them & told them not to call me so many time a day as I needed rest to get well. Finally we reached a pay off agreement, which I made. The amount I couldn't pay they 1099'd me for. However, they were very abrupt, nasty and talked circles around the truth, and I myself can see those types of people enjoying this type of harassment. Just my opinion.
