Got same call from NorthEast Credit Solutions on a Student loan and he claimed that my wages will be garnished. He called from 716-236-9734 and said his name is Brian Winter.
I kept receiving calls from 716-601-3063, message being left with callback number of 855-888-6784. The calls are an attempt to track down my ex (since June 2003) for an alleged debt which he incurred well after our divorce. I have informed the caller that we have been divorced since 2003 and that I have no contact with him and to please stop calling my number, but of course they don't stop. They have even started calling my husband (married 5 yrs now) and telling him that for all he knows, I am probably still with my ex! How they managed to get his phone number I do not know. I first told this company to stop contacting me in Oct/Nov. 2012. They then switched to calling me from blocked numbers, which I have set to go directly to voicemail, and then from about mid December 2012 until today, no more calls. I thought they finally decided to abide by the Federal Trade Commission and FDCPA rules, which limit contacting a third party/relative/neighbor to ONE time. Guess not. I'll be reporting them to my local law enforcement and the FTC and I encourage all of you reading these posts and being harassed by these people to do the same. What they are doing is not legal.
I have recieved a call from this number and also from 716-404-4725 concerning a bill they advised they are a courier company and if I don't want them to deliver documents to me to call them within 72 hours
This NCS Northeast Credit Solutions is a scam per both the Federal Trade Commission and the Missouri Attorney General @ the Missouri Consumer Protection Agency.
FTC # 877-382-4357
Missouri Consumer Protection Agency # 800-392-8222
National Do Not Call Registration # 888-382-1222
The National Do Not Call Registry is to stop telemarketers from calling your phone #. It does not prevent scam companies such as NCS from calling you.
The Federal Government put into place something known as the FDCPA. aka the Federal Debt Collection Oractices Act to stop debt collectors from using heavy handed and threatening behavior when trying to collect legitimate debt.
Collectors may not threaten you, talk about going to court against you unless they have the ABILITY (Attorney backed) and INTENT to do so, talk over you, interior you while you are talking, belittle or degrade you, or callyou more than one time per day if the have already spoken to you UNLESS you give them permission to do so.
You are under no requirement to talk to a debt collector, give them your personal information including your name & address & SSN#. Nor do you have to confirm or deny this info. You can simply say that you do not know them and will not discuss your personal info with someone you do not have a personal relationship with and hangup.
The FTC and the Missouri Consumer Protection Agency both said NCS is an out of country (not USA) scam operation which hacked into valid company databases and stole consumer information, which is how they know your name, SSN#, address and phone #. The FTC & CPA both agreed that the more times NCS talks to you the more calls they will make to you. STOP talking to them! Without an audience for their abusive behavior, they will move on to people that DO take their calls.
Under no circumstance should you give any financial info to these people as they are running a scam. Please call the FTC and your state's CPA/Attorney General to verify. Be sure and document what NCS said to you as well as their behaviir and phone #. If you can, get the name if the person from NCS that called you. The government agencies will ask you for this when you call to report bad behavior from this company or companies like it.
I am a former legitimate Debt Collector familiar with the FDCPA. I hope this helps you.
BUT... the Federal Trade Commission and the Missouri Attorney General's Office both agreed this scam is from outside the USA and can use a devise to call from ANY # including the government agency #'s. Remember you do not have to. Confirm, deny or provide ANY personal information to anyone who calls you. When YOU call, you can give this info to the governmental agencies, but because the scammers can call you posing as the govt agency even using the govt agency phone # to try to scam you, think twice before you give it up.
