Sure they will. Why? Because every time you make any payment whatsoever or say or do anything to acknowledge the debt, the statute of limitations on suing for the debt gets restarted. Unless you have an intention of paying off the debt in the short run, do not make any payment and say nothing that could be interpreted as your agreement that the debt exists.
"Half this country is collecting a check off "us" tax payers for no reason at all."
FYI, SSDI is not a "check off us tax payers". It is NOT welfare. It is an insurance that every worker pays into in event they become disabled.
In my case, I was injured on the job resulting me no longer being able to work in my field. I am going back to college to learn a new trade so I can work. In the meantime, I'm a paraplegic living on my own trying as hard as I can to make ends meet. Not many people want to hire disabled people. Yes it's illegal but they get around it. Now in the mean time, I pay my bills to the best of my ability. I make sure I mail in something monthly to rack known bill. But because it isn't enough, I'm harassed daily by this company. Where is the fairness in that? I could file bankruptcy, but I won't. This is my debt. But at the same time, people like me don't deserve to be treated like scum. So watch what you say before you make judgements. I could say loads about you on a debt collector post but I won't be that low.
I WISH my creditors would accept $1 a month. I try to pay $10-20 and I'm told it's unacceptable and won't cut it. Maybe where you work they accept $1 but here where I live they don't.
My two cents - this number and others keep calling me day and night..... I looked them up and I found the list of companies they claim to have back cards for and are trying to collect... in that list there was only ONE card I ever had and I paid that off to the company the card was issued to.... yes I finished paying it off after they closed it.... BUT I PAID it off directly to them! SO why am I getting calls 5 years after it was settled demanding payment all over again!
