They do not need to call my home after 9:00 at night. I find it hard to be nice to the "student" who: wakes my children three nights in a row with a post 9:30 pm phone call and who tells me that because they are a non-profit they can call my home at whatever time they choose.
Furthermore, I gave my annual donation already and don't appreciate repeated phone calls asking for more money.
They may not be required by law to cease calling but they should honor my request to stop doing so. I won't give a dime to a school which glorifies Lionel Cuffie.
Absolute pain. Let me see if I can put this in perspective, my wife DID attend and graduate (twice) from RU 30 years ago while taking care of two children and working. Although she did recieve a couple of "gifts" designated by the donors for exellence, we have given many times that amount over the years. NOW however I am 66 years old, my wife has a bad heart and has dificulty sleeping. Good folks to call at nearly 10 P.M. don't you think? It's now 5:45 AM and I'm still up. Although I have asked TWO TIMES EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS TO BE TAKEN OFF THEIR CALL LIST THEY HAVE NOT COMPLIED. If I still lived nearby I would be in someones office tomorrow morning. If I won the LOTTERY I would not give RU one penny. I might contact the state AG I'd rather donate to that campaign than this one. By the way, is there a single person on here that looks forward to their next telemarketer call? Shouldn't that tell them something?
I think this was in response to the Post Card we recieved earlier this week asking for updates to be in the 'New' Allum. Directory. Maybe for funds too. But as are not active with that association - nether quest will be replied to. They can call all they want. I screen my calls and I will not reply. But I might write them a letter saying Thanks but no thanks - and leave us alone. We don't need a placement in the updated or current dirctory and have no spare funds for a college that is several states away at this point.
I have a child who graduated from Rutgers in May and one who is a Sophomore. My husband and I always give. I believe in the past we have requested where we would like the money to be go. I admit though that the calls are annoying. We have caller ID and I recognized the area code and wanted to
check it which is how I ended up on this site. They will call and call until we answer. And since we have two kids affiliated with Rutgers we get calls on behalf of each of them. Why can't they cross reference their lists!!! All that being said, the University gets so little state support compared to others and the
tuition is half the Penn State tuition (my husband and I are both PSU alums). If you saw how nice
Penn State is you would give more to Rutgers. The campus is not taken care of at all.
No wonder they're trying to make some money off the football team. Sorry folks, but successful sports
programs bring in money that can be used for other programs.
I was a Rutgers graduate student - until I couldn't afford my tuition, didn't want to take out any more loans and was not awarded any graduate scholarships or fellowship even with a perfect 4.0 GPA. They evicted me for inability to pay my tuition with one full time semester left. To get the return on the investment I'll have to borrow the $$ at 6.8%. Now they are calling literally every day at 8-10 PM asking for donations to the Foundation. Unbelievable.
No wonder Trenton doesn't appropriate them any money anymore. They way they run this university - if I were Trenton, I wouldn't throw anymore money down this rat hole anymore either.
