I'm up to 7 calls from this # today, at my work number. I'm no longer even bothering to pick up (I was leaving the receiver on my desk, not saying anything, till he hung up). How fun! (Sarcasm)
This person called my number at work and asked for me by name. When I said yes, he hung up. I too now am worried about this being an identity thief. I'll be vigilant watching my credit over the next several weeks.
I got a call from same creepy Indian accent guy. First he called, i picked up but didn't say anything and heard he was talking to someone in Hindi without knowing that i have picked up the phone. Then i hung up. Then he called me again, confirmed my name and hung up.
Got the call, same M.O. as above. I initially ignored the call, but on the third callback I answered. The person on the other end - similar to these other accounts - spoke with a vaguely eastern accent and was in a loud room with a lot of background noise. He asked if he was speaking to me by first name, and when I said yes, asked by full name. When I said yes again, he hung up.
For my money, this seems like a scam - with full name, verified telephone number, and an address (easily findable) they could definitely pull something fishy or continue digging to come up with things like SS# that would allow them to open accounts and credit lines.
I would almost rather they had been trying to sell me something - at least then I would know what was going on.
Called my business number 4 times in a row so I started answering and hitting the mute button right away so I could hear him but he could not hear me. He kept saying "Hello" "Can you hear me" then hung up and called again with the same results. He then tried calling from 661-748-0240 which is also a number that calls my business phone numerous times a day. What they do is verify the name and phone number so they can sell it to other telemarketers.
this number called my office number 3 different times in the space of just a few minutes. When i answered he asked for me by name (although could hardly understand him enough even to get that). When i said this is she he started going on about how he loved me. I told him he had the wrong number that i did not know him & hung up the phone. the second time he called back it was the same thing but when i asked who is this responded with "you know who this is, this is your green boy" (totally creepy) & then then i told him that our phones are equipped with record & he was being recorded right now & of course he hung up. 3rd time he called I did not answer but sent to my supervisor to handle & as soon as he answered caller hung up. **don't know what the purpose is of this call or this approach is if identity theft but is very creepy**
