Why the heck would you even think of talking to SCUM like them? no computer company would call you like that. wake up! why would you even have a conversation with them? if you wondered about the call tell them to call later when your husband is home. but what you should have done, using your (brain?) was to hang up. obviously you have not been on this earth that long to realize this crap goes on 24/7 wake up and smell the roses. you were lucky you did nothing.
I keep getting these calls and every time I try to waste their time since they want to waste mine. Broken english Ahab called saying he was calling from technical support and he went on mumbo jumbling speaking with some sort of junk in his mouth thinking hes speaking English. He started talking about my computer..... I said I don't have a computer.... He paused and said what? I said I don't have a computer. He said you don't have a laptop. .. I said no...He said "Why not? I said I don't belive in them..... He again said why not? I told him that I don't believe that our lives should revolve and depend on electronics...... He got irritated and said blah blah blah and you are an idiot. Just as I said "look who's talking..... you can't even speak our English".... He disconnected. WARNING!!! These guys want to trick you to installing a ransomware software application and will delete all your files and render your computer useless unless you pay their fee... last I heard was like $350 or more.
The time before I just simply told them that I work in the IT industry and started chewing the ear out until they hung up....
total scammers trying to get control of your computer and stealing all your personal information.
I have blocked them again and again. They are like rats crawling all over the internet.
BLOCK THE [***].
They don't have your computer ID number. The alpha-numeric code: CLSID\{ 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062 is an identifier used in almost all WIndows operating systems. And, most likely they just call a set of numbers that some computer has generated starting with a certain number series and just ramming it though the gears numerically until they have a big enough list. Then they give the list to the poor [***] working at the call center and give him a scrip to follow. And then he just starts calling. This has been going on awhile. I get them once or twice a month.
Over the past 3 years, I have had at least 20 of this type call where they say there's a corrupt file on the computer. They just keep changing numbers...or maybe they are expanding so everyone can get in on scamming people who don't know any better. Especially people who don't know much about their computer. This scares them into giving information they would never give out ordinarily.
Please trust what you read here and know that they use, or have used, many different numbers. Just hang up!
PS: I wonder why "Scammer" isn't included in the Call Type below?
I got a call claiming to be from Windows tech support saying there was a problem with my computers. He hung up after I told him we had Apple computers.
