Yup. That's what infuriates me; I made sure to choose "speak to a live operator" and their "representative" just hangs up. Sorry if you're gonna bug me MULTIPLE times every day with your robocall SPAM you deserve to have to listen to me. They still keep the upper hand by hanging up on you.
My parents also get the same calls and, like this outfit hopes, they actually think it has something to do with their actual credit card account. It's a slick message: "your account has no current problems. You can lower the interest rate on your account." Even though I've explained to my mom multiple times that these are not legitimate calls from her bank she worries about ignoring them. Because they say "your account" she assumes they are talking about her actual account with her bank. When somebody says, "your account" it's hard to remember that you have NO account with these people and they have NOTHING to do with any account that you do have.
This reminds me of two things: that the Do Not Call list for my state has had me removed because the in-the-pocket-of-anybody-with-big-money state Republicans (I'm talking to you Scott Fitzgerald and Scott Walker) have made my phone # "available" again by assuming that I just don't want to miss out on the fantastic offers made in these calls--so like they hoped I forgot I had to sign back onto the list-again and again.
The second thing it reminds me of is the Call Block function on my phone and on my parents' phone.
Would appreciate it companies, non-profit organizations, etc. would check the DO NOT CALL LIST! I know that it doesn't apply to non-profit organizations, but I don't have any extra money to give and if I did, I'd give it to my church or animal shelter.
Called 1-11-2012 @ 09:15, answered call from Rachel at Credit Card Services. Pressed 3 to discontinue calls from them again! If I had the time, would have pressed 1 to speak to a representativeand waste their time too.
