Caller ID was "FINANCIAL CTR". Message left was about: "reducing credit card interest rates to as little as 6% if I owe at least $3000 and one card is in good standing."
I dont even have any CC, paid them all off. This marketing should be stopped. I was on the do not call list, how do they get out numbers. Just sick of it....
All the authorities I call "FTC, FCC, Local Sheriff, DNC, etc... " all say they have no way of tracing these calls. You can bet your hind end that if someone used the same system to threaten the president of the United States, they WOULD find them. Now why can't they find the scammers?
Somehow we got to get a way to educate every American about this scam. If EVERYONE would just hung up on them, and not fall for their trick, they would dry up and go away. Same goes for all the scam E-Mails we all get.
They got your number from the DNC list. They go to the FTC and say they are a legit company and want to make sure they do not call those on the list then use the list. I never had an issue until I put myself on the DNC.
Verizon said that they have a "law enforcement" team that can trace the call if you file a complaint (harrassment, threats, etc.) with local police. Local police route the complaint to state police for investigation.
Obviously, if blocking works, then that's the easiest solution but these criminals often change their number and blocking may not work. A formal legal complaint is the only other solution. When we start filing complaints, then pressure will be put on Verizon, AT&T, Vonage, etc. to find a hi-tech fix which they could surely do if the incentive was great enough.
