Called asking for the old CEO who left over 10 years ago. He was "surprised" to hear that. Then asked for the new CEO. I asked what the call was about and he just told me he used to do business with the old CEO and he wanted to chat with the new one. There is no way I would transfer with that information so I sent him to a voicemail. He hung up before the call completed.
This gentleman asked for my boss by name. When I asked if his voicemail was okay he got upset and said he was expecting his call. When I replied that he was in a business meeting and he was not expecting any call he got upset and told me to shut up. I told him to stop calling and he was appalled and his voice got nice and said excuse me. I just hung up on him.
Received a call from this number and the man on the other end of the line asked for my manager by name. I asked who was calling and he gave me his name. I asked where he was calling from and he told me Tucker & Associates. When I asked what this call was regarding, it went to static when he spoke. I asked him to repeat, as he had cut out. Again, static. I told him that my boss wasn't available at the time and if I could take his number and he gave me a 464 area code. I asked if that was a United States area code (we are in Canada), and he said yes. I just told him that he will have to call at another time, as we don't have calling to the United States. He told me that's fine, thanks and hung up. Thought it was odd that we would get a call from a 201 number, when we live in Canada, as we don't do much business internationally. I always probe them for answers before determining if it's a legit call or not.
Received a phone call from "Anthony" who asked for the owner of our business by name. The owner gets 20+ telemarketing calls a day so we screen them until we can verify that it is someone that needs to talk to him or take a message to allow him to return the call (which he is great about doing promptly).
We told Anthony that the owner was not available and could we take a message. He got very upset and gave his information and said that he was returning Owner's phone call (which would mean he had his cell phone number not our main office number as the owner never uses our phones to call out). My coworker (who took the phone call) asked him to repeat his name and he said, "I just told you my name 3 seconds ago, how did you forget it already?" She did get a little snarky back to him at that point. He then told her to put him on hold, get up and go find the owner, and put him on the phone. Um. no. We did, however, put him on hold. He hung within about 1 minute.
I took the liberty of calling him back, surely he didn't mean to hang up when he was sooo anxious to speak with our owner! It sounds like an actual company. The intro was a recorded message giving the title of the company, address, and let's you enter extension numbers. I pressed zero and got a pleasant sounding lady on the phone. I asked for "Anthony" and got the voicemail of Michael Somethingorother. I left a nice little message letting him know that we jumped right up to find the owner and I know how urgent his issue is otherwise he would never have been so rude. I plan to call back as often as I can.
Same exact thing happened to me as it did all the others. He got angry when I said my boss wasn't available, I asked what the call was regarding he got angry and told me its a private matter and told me he'd email him instead when I said I could take a message.
