Got a call 202-864-1255. The caller introduced herself as an IRS investigation officer and wanted to get some information related to fraud. After I asked her to mail me the issue and do not discuss my personal information over the phone, the caller hanged up. This is scam. IRS never calls and discuss fraud over the phone. Be aware.
Just got this call this morning. Now I know it is a scam as I work for the Post Office and I also know that the IRS does all of its outgoing contact via mail and certified mail. They NEVER ever call you with some problem with your taxes. If more people knew this, this Melvin Betchick with a heavy accent and broken up phone call would not ever get anywhere. What a maroon. Did report it though to the IRS Inspector General. I hope if enough people report it they will take action to catch this clown and shut him down.
Just got a message re. "fraud" referring to the phone # 202 864 1255. It was about "evasion" of taxes within 2008-2013. The person with a slight accent (apparently Indian) told me that I had committed a tax fraud (???) and that IRS opened a court case about me. The language was rude and aggressive. To my question, why didn't I hear anything from anywhere before, the person replied: because IRS wrote 35 letters (!!) to you and all had been returned. (Gosh, what a jerk I am!) Interesting, since my name, exact address, and the phone # have been accurately exposed on each tax return? Only one thing concerns me now: he suggested to hire a lawyer. I would understand it if he wanted me to wire out some money. But to hire a lawyer... What's the point?
I too received a call from an Alvin Betchic from the Crime Unit Investigations office. He told me to call him back and not ignor the number he gave 202 864-1255. I contacted the Federal crimes bureau of the IRS and surrendered the name and the phone number used on my answering machine. Please note that the IRS NEVER simply calls someone that they are investigating. Protocol requires a certified letter from their office as the first step in a matter like Tax evasion or Tax fraud.

He is threatening many people- old people- etc..
