RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail.
Received a call from 722-432-5687 stating they were the IRS and it was the final call before they were filing a lawsuit against us and to call back at 206-973-3241. It is obviously a scam.
Rec'd the same automated message claiming to have been trying to reach me without success (this is the first call I've received), threatening a lawsuit. Thankfully checked here first before even calling the actual IRS helpline. Deleted.
I got the call, identifying themselves as IRS. I've had a few problems with the IRS, and have received nasty letters but never a phone call. Actually I received helpful calls from humans at IRS. These scammers sure are busy today. I would think that this should be an additional Federal charge.
I knew it was a scam and called them to knock it off, they told me they are freezing my bank account, taking away my license and social security card ... I asked if they were taking away my birthday too?
The man was very rude, heavy Indian accent and there was a lot of noise in the background like a call center.
