RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail.
This is a scam. They say they are from IRS. They say you owe money from past years but it is untrue. They said I owed Federal Taxes from 2006, 2007, 2008. I have my taxes done professionally. They said they mailed all paperwork 9/25/2014 but I never received anything. They would not provide any paperwork unless I agreed to pay $5770.00. I refused to pay anything unless they could provide paperwork. We were at stalemate. They suggested I contact lawyer. I said they needed to give me a case number or something so I could give it to my lawyer, so they gave me a case number. I called my lawyer. My lawyer said the IRS never communicates via phone, always via US Mail. They also had my wrong last name as I married within those years and they were not suing my husband for the jointly filed years. And the topper, the caller was foreign, the initial caller, then the supervisor, both had a thick Indian accent. According to my lawyer, had I continued to engage the caller they would have wanted payment via wire transfer or some sort of international gift card. THIS IS A SCAM (yes, I purposely repeated this sentence).
I received a call from (721) 402-5607 today 12/5/14 at 10:32am EST, that left a computer generated voicemail saying they were from IRS and they have called several times, there is a lawsuit they are filing and I should call (206) 973-3241 immediately. Based on the comments below I believe this to be a scam and will not respond.
Please someone invent a solution to stop these incessant auto-dialer calls. HOW CAN I MAKE IT STOP???
I've been repeatedly called 10 times this week (12/2-12/5/14) by the following numbers. I never answer these calls and they never leave a voicemail:
This is disgusting that our laws are so weak that we can't go after these jerks and put them in jail. I got a message from them on my home phone, threatening me with a law suit!
Received call message on my recorder from 282-656-2522 telling me to call 206-973-3241. The IRS is about to file a lawsuit against me. Did not respond - Knew it must be a scam
