My caller said he was from "WINDOWS Support" not Microsoft. There is a difference. Microsoft is trademarked, copyrighted etc. windows is not and can't be. Anyone can say they work for windows, Microsoft is a different story.
He got all huffy when I called hin a "pakistani scammer". In retrospect his English was so good he is probably Filippino.
I get calls from this number every day sometimes two or three calls a day. I do not answer the phone that I do not recognize the number. These scammers from India use a computer program to create fake names and numbers or legit companies names and fake numbers. They make these calls from a computer from India. These scammers that call and say that they work for Microsoft, I truly do no trust the ones that work for Microsoft tech support, because they could be running a scam on the side, but I will call and give them this number and see what happen. Have anyone ever wonder how these scammers got your number or name from overseas? I have received several calls with my name and number on my caller ID. The calls will never stop. Your phone carrier can help by bringing back call block.
Same call as everyone else. "I am from Microsoft, you downloaded potentially damning software and I am the only one who can remove it from your computer" The issue is he was speaking to my non computer literate mother, who actually got out her computer and was trying to do as he said. "Aye yiyi mom" So she says I can't do what you want, give me your number and my daughter will call and do it. He tried to tell her "No, I can do everything needed without your daughter" Yeah I bet you don't want to talk to me, guy!
I like to play with them! Like cat and mouse, it's just too much fun!! You act like you're doing all the things they're asking and after he has you 'do' a few things, start acting astonished, "Oh my god! What did you do to my computer! WOW! I can't believe it!" They start freaking out like Ummm what's going on? The guy I did it to was like "What?! What does it say!!!!"
One day my husband told the guy we just didn't have a computer. He had a mental breakdown! and I quote, " You don't have a computer!? You don't have a computer?! You don't have a computer?! You don't have a computer?! You don't have a computer?!" I swear he was a broken record, his brain was skipping for a minute or something.
And yes, the numbers they call from are proxy numbers. They bounce it off all sorts of places, usually they call from an unused area code. He had the wrong address but right zipcode and city.
Received call this afternoon - and was greeted by "Good Morning" my first indication that the caller had no idea of whom he was speaking too. He did have an accent of some sort & stated that he was with Microsoft technical department and proceeded to go into his sales pitch of which he claimed the main computer in the home was infected with a virus. My response to him was that there were no computers nor electronics in the home & that he had called a nearly extinct landline. The caller then called me a dumb MF'ing [***] and told me to F'off ...of which I responded with a few choice words of myself and the caller hung up. I tried calling the number back (218) 520-4673 (Name Unavailable) the call would not go thru and gave me a message that the number dialed was not valid.
I have placed a block on this number and will continue to pass this number along reporting to any source that I find. Sad that people have to stoop to such low levels versus working the old fashioned way earning a dollar.
Indian accent like the others and when I told him I don't believe he is legit he told me that he fu**ked my mother last night and hung up. I really want to get this guy/people shut down. What he said was disgusting and I'm pissed off like you can't believe! Another phone number trying to do the same thing is 207-622-4809.
