My caller said he was from "WINDOWS Support" not Microsoft. There is a difference. Microsoft is trademarked, copyrighted etc. windows is not and can't be. Anyone can say they work for windows, Microsoft is a different story.
He got all huffy when I called hin a "pakistani scammer". In retrospect his English was so good he is probably Filippino.
Indian accent said he was calling for MICROSOFT my computer had virus . I told him he was a scammer and not to call back. The company Microsoft should investigate these calls because it's against the law to commit fraud.Just saying
I got a call this am - again, saying they were "Windows Tech Support" and that my husband's computer was sending error messages - that it was corrupted. When I asked how they got our name/number this indian ("David Morrison") said it was attached to our license agreement - I asked for that number & he gave me a series of numbers that must be made up to try to simulate this is valid.
This is not the first time - others ("Nick Knightly") have called w/ same b/s from other numbers - when we put the number in the browser we have always gotten a story re: a scam. BEWARE of these phone calls - they are looking for naive people to intimidate in order to get access or more info. for fraudulent activities. Can't anybody do anything about this. I continue to file complaints w/ FTC each time.
Yeah.....another call from a person with a south Asian accent with the usual claim that he was calling from Windows Technical Support and my computer was corrupted. I receive similar calls two or three times a week. He became hostile when I told him I had a Microsoft service contract and that they would take care of all of my needs.
