They called and said they were my grandchild who was in jail and needed money to get out. He supposedly traveled to Florida for a funeral and got arrested for a DUI. He said a lawyer would call back with details. A "lawyer" called back a couple minutes later with additional details about the arrest and said he called grandpa because he didn't want to call his mom and dad. We said we needed to call his mom first to make sure. He was home in bed, and calls back to the number went direct to voicemail.
I've been called over 6 times in the last 2 hours from this number. Answered the phone call the second time and they told me they were doing a survey on living conditions. I told them I didn't want to participate, thanked them and hung up. They then continued to call my number REPEATEADLY!
Got an "IRS form" to fax back to this number (305-330-4525) identification and account numbers for withholding. Most definitely a scam of the "Nigerian" type.

My story is similar to everyone here except I don't call back numbers that don't leave a message as a general rule..The number will call a few days in a row but at different times..then they stop..a few months will go by and the same calling pattern..3 or 4 days in a row but at different times (i guess they're trying to catch me home by calling at different hours)..What I've learned is Scammers have software that hides the real number so they advoid any government intervention..People should not be so CURIOUS and call these numbers back..If you don't recognize the number and caller ID doesn't either and they don't leave a message THEN in my book..NOTHING GOOD will come from calling..If it's IMPORTANT people leave messages..Alot of these calls originate from Nigeria even though the number has a US area code..
