They called and said they were my grandchild who was in jail and needed money to get out. He supposedly traveled to Florida for a funeral and got arrested for a DUI. He said a lawyer would call back with details. A "lawyer" called back a couple minutes later with additional details about the arrest and said he called grandpa because he didn't want to call his mom and dad. We said we needed to call his mom first to make sure. He was home in bed, and calls back to the number went direct to voicemail.
Guy with very thick accent asks for "Joe" I ask for last name and he responds with- "the owner of the company" so again i ask- "do you have a last name?" he tells me (but does not pronounce it correctly)
I ask who is calling- he tells me his name (could not understand) and i ask where he is calling from ans he says something like "GMC" but offers no further explanation. When asked what the call is regarding he tells me "its a very confidential matter- just put me through to him" I tell the caller that I am the receptionist and am asked to find out the nature of the call before transferring- he says "i know your the receptionist but this is very confidential- and just put me through to him" i laugh, pause and basically tell him "nope. i will put you into his voicemail and you can leave him a message then"
Heard lots of talking in background- very suspicious..
