Got a call from them for the past 3 days. Called it back once, they won't tell you who is suing you. They give you 3 options, pay off your debt, do a monthly payment which is more or go to court. It's a scam.
These scammers actually SOMEHOW got family members' phone numbers and called them threatening and looking for me! Now the thing about this one is that even if this was a legit bill - which we can agree it isn't at this point - there is NO WAY they could have gotten this particular family member's name and phone number from ANYTHING I would have put on any kind of application or reference, etc. I would NEVER put them down and we don't have the same last name or anything. THAT concerns me. HOW did they connect us and how did they get their info and call them looking for me?? My family member did say that they did not give a company name either. And the message they initially left with the family member was threatening THEM! They thought someone was after them and were terrified. They called back to find out what was going on only to find out the place was looking for me. I do believe that was an illegal action right there - they can't randomly leave a message stating they are going to serve "you" at home and work today and not even have the right person being threatened!
This is a scam. If it were a legal issue, legally they are not allowed to release this type of information via phone message. If a person is being served the individual must be handed the papers in person, and the individual who hands it off is used as a witness during the court visits. Another BIG giveaway here is that they claimed to be going to my "place of employment", but if this were legit then they would know that I do not currently work.
