The number could be from anywhere in the world! Yes, the 'computer Tech' guys really try hard to speak with an American accent and use a typical 'American' name. I've been called numerous times over the years and had played my own games with 'Alex'...who got very mad when I told him I would not turn my computer over to him. I hung up when the swearing started. He called me back....twice. Last time I said I'd called the FBI.or FTC. He hung up. Two week after that, "Alex" called again. I reminded that I'd called the FBI, all my calls are now recorded. It's been almost a year. And so the scams start again with a new batch of idiots
Have received several calls. Supposedly from Microsoft. I ask what IP address is showing a problem as I have multiple computers. They hang up on me. Definitely a scam.
I got a call last night and only heard his name was Peter and he was calling from a technical dept I couldn't understand the name of. I hung up before he could say anymore. I am not going to waste my time with these scammers.
