@ lee, I got a call like that stating they were calling medicare aged people and wanted to verify my information. I said I was old but not that dumb, bye
Midday oct 11. Caller with heavy accent of some sort told my 85 yr old mother in south florida they were changing her medicare coverage to nationwide. No more medicare. Nationwide. They asked for her bank information and soc sec number. They also confirmed her address, which is why we called the police. She hung up on the guy.
Heavy accented woman claimed to be from National Medical Office wanted to speak to my husband who is 90 and has dementia. Lucky I answered the phone and not him! She said she needed to verify some information. She was very difficult to understand, but not impossible.
hang-up call. ( I answered the phone by saying "yo!" when I saw it was from brooklyn).
I wish we had a government that made some effort to protect the elderly from these scams.
Called my elderly mother this morning. Man with middle eastern accent attempted to get the name of my mother's bank and her account number. He told her it was about Medicare going nationwide and he was going to send her a "new card". I took the phone and told him that he should already have all of the information that he needed and asked for a phone number to return his call. He hung up. THIS IS A SCAM! IF YOU GIVE THESE PEOPLE THIS INFORMATION, THEY CAN TAKE MONEY OUT OF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT! Report these people to your state's Attorney General's Office.
These are the lowest scum of the earth, that would try to take advantage of elderly people who are trusting!
My father is getting calls from that number for 3 month now.they are women with no accent.Well it is nasty and He is older person and very innocent ...they stole His identity once..Now He got these calls few times a day...
