I called my mother and her caller ID identified my number as this number (which it is not). I called Centurytel, our phone service provider, and they are looking into it. Ugh.
Some Indian claiming his name was Mark - hmm, his accent was thick that I couldn't understand him. Said something about my computer ................. That's all I could make out. Scam obviously.
I just got a call from them PLEASE BE KNOW THESE PEOPLE ARE A SCAM, they tried to say I have a windows computer and I have never owned a windows computer all I have is Apple. When I told them that they accused me of lying.
This guy was out of Toledo OHIO and they told me they knew where my stolen 1968 Camaro was and had me drive 10 hours to get it. He got his mother involved and she was in on the scam. Described my car perfectly and said the guy who stole it wanted a deposit on the car. They were very believable and extremely good liars. The acted like they really wanted to help you out. Even picked them up at what we thought was their house at 11 Kenilworth Toledo Ohio where there were kids running around. If it is to good to be true, it probably is. 20 hours of driving time and out $1500. They are good! Hats off to them they got me and i'm not an easy guy to fool. We have the police watching them.
Sounds like a ghost story to me. Either that or you are one easily deluded person.
Why didn't you just call the police on such an obvious scam in the first place?
You picked these guys up? Christ! You picked up car thieves? Drove them around? You're lucky to be alive. Lucky you weren't robbed or worse.
You actually paid $1500 dollars to someone? You paid money to a perfect stranger who admits to being somehow part of a theft of your own vehicle? And you thought it was totally legit?? How does that work?
