Indian sounding man woke us at 645 am asking for my mom who lives on the other side of the country. I also mysteriously get AARP adverts in the mail addressed to her from time to time so I think this connection makes sense.
I received a call from this phone number. His name was Michael from SSA verification !?! (he sounded like he was from India) I asked, "Why are you calling Michael?". He hung up on me ! Obviously a SCAM !! I tried to call the number back and I was unable to get through.
I happened to have this number, 405-574-1214, call my elderly mother while I was visiting her and I answered the phone and they could tell they were not speaking to a retired person and they hung up after saying they were going to be sending a new Medicare Card. Of course, it was the thick middle eastern accent.
These calls are obviously made by countries that don't like America and who also know how to purchase "call lists" of people on Medicare.
Also, there are companies that sell phone numbers to ANYONE who does not want their real phone number to pop up on caller ID's. Their advertising line is this, "We know how important it is for salespeople who do "cold callng" to appear to be from the same area code and exchange of the target demographic you wish to contact and we can make that happen for you no matter where you are really calling from." The FCC should put these criminal companies out of business NOW!
