It is Bank of America. The voicemail I received said my account had been compromised and to call the number on the back of my card. They did not leave a number to call. I did and was told yes, it was true. My account had been compromised and they had already mailed a new card to me.
THIS IS NOT BANK OF AMERICA THE NUMBER IS BEING SPOOFED IF YOU CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD YOU'LL SEE AND THEN ASK THE REP IF IT'S A VIABLE NUMBER (I ALREADY DID THIS AND THE ANSWER WAS "IT'S NOT OUR NUMBER!!!"
I got a call from this number the other day, saying it was Bank of America asking if I had gotten my new card, which either my wife or I ordered a new card, in the mail. I thought this was strange So i looked the number up on line and found all this. I read all the reposnsies and tried to call the number back from my office phone and got a few strange tones and then it rang once and then hung up. I then tried to call from my cell phone and got no tomes and then someone came on the line to say it was bank of america and asked for my Social first thing. I hung up and called The 800 number lised on BOA website and talked to them instead. This does not belong to Bank of America, anyone who says that it does either needs to Check their Credit to see if anything Strange has been put on with their Social Security number or Works for this company and is trying to trick you.
I just received a call from 415-229-2984. They claimed to be from Bank of America and we're leaving me a voicemail message to remember to activate my new debit card. This is fraudlent. I spoke with BofA, I do in fact have an account with them and they informed me that (1) they do not leave voicemail messages of this nature and (2) this is not one of their phone numbers. They said they appreciate anyone who reports this kind of activity as they do try to stop it from happening again.
I just got off the phone with BoA after receiving the same phone call. I called the regular customer service number NOT the 800 number left by the voicemail. I was told that some BoA customers accounts had been compromised and that mine was "potentially" one of them and that the number I just got the call from was NOT associated with BoA and I was wise not to call it back. I was informed I would be getting a new debit card and that I should update all my passwords to my online banking. Also to monitor my account for suspicous activity for the next week and to contact them if anything came up.
This number is a scam and if you want to contact BoA, especially if you have an account with them, use the customer service number on the back of your debit card or any number on the website!
