I just got the same phone call claiming that I needed to call back to avoid any action being taken against me by the IRS. When I called back it sends you straight to voicemail.
Just got same call at 12:10 on my cell.Left voice mail message. Definitely a computerized voice. Said "This is the IRS. You must call 415-251-6983 before we take action. Do not ignore this call. Take care."
LOL. Such a pathetic scam. Didn't mention my name. Computer voice didn't have a name. I already knew about this scam as we saw it on the Local news and they already called and left a message on another phone. I will block this number on my cell now. If I had the time to waste, I would call back and harass them as others have done. Can't believe they are still at it. After all the news stories do they really think people aren't on to them yet? Hope the FBI gets them, but if they are calling from another country, guess there isn't much to be done. You would think, with a scam this big, that the phone companies would get on the ball and block them. They have plenty of technology to trace them to the country of origin.
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
I had a call today on my personal cell phone which terrified me. The message threatened legal action against me if i didnt return the call. When I did, the first person hung up on me because his accent was so thick i could not understand him. He hung up on me frustrated because I asked him to repeat the firm name. I called back and another foreigner with a thick accent told me i owed back taxes and have been in non-compliance for over 7 years and have not repsonded to legal documents sent to an old address. THat I would need to file a case in court, get a lawyer because they were on the verge of arresting me and repossing all of my possenssions. I said how could this be? If you really were the IRS, why wouldnt i get these legal documents at my current address. He then swore at me and hung up on me. This call has distubed me so greatly and now my co-workers have told me theyve got similar calls. Why isnt this being stopped?
