Just received a recorded message from the "IRS" about a pending court case. No mention of my name, state, or what it
was about. I was suppose to call the local courthouse and call the number 425-298-9553. I did neither. I got on google
and checked on the number. I found this site and was glad it was nothing but a scam. Seems like they like to call on a
holiday, it is Halloween today. Sick people!
I received a recorded call at 9 A.M. on Columbus Day from 425-298-9553 concerning a "pending court case", asking me to return the call. I called the number and asked what company it was, since I knew government offices were closed and I'm not involved in a court case. The man refused to tell me who he was calling for. When I insisted, he hung up-definitely a fraud!
I too received this call about 9:30 A.M. on Columbus Day from 425-298-9553. It left a message on my voicemail. No legitimate law firm would leave such a generic message nor not leave the name of the firm. IT IS A SCAM of some sorts. If you see the number, don't pick up.
Received a 2nd recorded message at 11:50 A.M. Eastern Time from same number 425-298-9553 (Washington State area code). Now the recording says its about "unpaid taxes" and a "pending court case".
I too received TWO phone calls from this number, also stating "pending court case" on the first call, then elaborating on "unpaid taxes". As far as I'm concerned my financial responsibilities are in perfect standing. I would also imagine that for such a delicate matter (if it were true, which it isn't in my case), a human being and not a recorded message would handle the call personally to ascertain the validity of the claim. DO NOT CALL BACK, as it is likely a scam. [Only my opinion].
Beware of fake IRS scams. I received a call today from 425-298-9553 in Kirkland, WA. The guy had a thick accent (Filipino?) and told me he was an IRS officer and the IRS is filing a lawsuit “on” me at the “courthouse.” He said they audited my tax returns from 2008-2012, there were many “miscalculations and misrepresentations” and the IRS was suing me for all sorts of violations, including fraud. He refused to give me any details. Instead, he told me he would set up an appt. for me to go to the local IRS office and that I had to go right then, and that I could not hang up the call until I got there and my "case was resolved." I asked a lot of questions, and the guy was getting exasperated. Finally, I told him he called me on a land line and I asked how I was supposed to not hang up. He said he would call me back (even though I didn’t give him my cell number) in 10 minutes then hung up. He never called back.
