Just received a recorded message from the "IRS" about a pending court case. No mention of my name, state, or what it
was about. I was suppose to call the local courthouse and call the number 425-298-9553. I did neither. I got on google
and checked on the number. I found this site and was glad it was nothing but a scam. Seems like they like to call on a
holiday, it is Halloween today. Sick people!
Caller called my mothers house today and left a message claiming to be with the IRS regarding a settlement to pending lawsuit. I have not lived at that address for 20 years so it was definitely a scam.
Someone called from the number (425) 298-9553 saying that they were from the IRS asking for my wife. Saying that there was a pending lawsuit to put a Lien on our house and she would be arrested by the sheriff shortly. When I asked for an IRS case number I was told to call back during business hours. And gave no further details. But if I would wire money the matter would be closed. It is a scam. 1st) IRS never calls, they only use the Mail for correspondence. 2nd) If it were legitimate they would have a case number. 3rd)If there was a case going back several years how could we be getting tax refunds for the last 7 years. It Is A SCAM.
Got one today also - from the Md DC area - same as all - accent and said his name was Mark Brown - when I asked for his field office he aggressively told me he would be asking the questions not me - when I asked for his immediate supervisor he hung up. I calleed back to give a taste of their own medicine and of course, nop answer or number was unavailable.
