Caller had my name,said he was from Windows and needed to speak with the owner of home computer,I asked what I could help him with, he asked again for owner of Computer, I hung up. he tried calling back, I didnt answer 2nd time.
Caller said "Hello this is Jennifer from Windows IT department, how are you today?"
I hung up. It's a social engineering scam. They'll get you to install malware on your computer and hack your email, bank accounts, anything online protected by your username and password.
I keep receiving calls from 458-201-2021. My caller ID says its from Eugene OR. He says that my computer has been hacked and for me to turn it on. I decline and hang up.
These guys called, same story, malware on windows,etc. I played dumb for the longest time just to make them pay the long distance. They eventually realized I was having fun at their expense and they hanged up.
Called my landline, and showed up as "Pauline Poghosy". I never answer calls from names or numbers that I don't recognize, and I turned off the answering machine for my home phone long ago due to scammers. They will get nowhere with me. If by chance I ever do pick up to one of these "computer bug" thieves, I'll simply tell them to eat $**+ and hang up on them. I am not obligated to talk to anyone who calls my home.
