Caller had my name,said he was from Windows and needed to speak with the owner of home computer,I asked what I could help him with, he asked again for owner of Computer, I hung up. he tried calling back, I didnt answer 2nd time.
Received same call. Foreign accent; very hard to understand, said from Windows, and wanted to do something with my computer. I finally hung up, then googled the number; found this page; thanks very helpful.
Caller ID showed the name Pauline Poghosy. Who knows if that name has been faked.
It was a guy with an Indian accent who began reading the same pitch that I have heard numerous times:
"We have been receiving reports that your computer has been getting error messages..."
This is a well-known scam. The caller tries to convince you that there is something wrong with your computer and will fix it for a fee. This scam has been going on for a very long time.
