My husband and I both got calls from a number that only said 201 on our cell pone caller ids. The automated message said our bank debit card had been deactivated and that we needed to call an 1800 number to reactivated it. We both got the call about one and half hours apart. The message said a company name that was unfamiliar to both of us.
Same here- rec'd call at 5:24pm Sunday 7.20.2008. recorded msg saying its from Quincy Credit Union (which would be local) that Visa debit card is being deactivated. I immediately typed the number into Google, and got here... Thanx EVERYONE for the help... I'm NOT calling any such number so that they can get more info on me.....
2:37PM Monday 7/21/08
Seemed to go directly to voicemail as I never heard the phone ring and it did not show up on my call log. There was a voice message with 515-414-2182 (inaudible) T credit union. Stating that my card had been deactivated.
Good thing I actually talked to the security team of my credit union and know that they don't use any automated systems.
Recv'd the call on 7-18-08 around 6pm, computer voice left the 515-414-2182 number and said my account with Texas Credit Union (I have no account, and live in MA) had been suspended. Called the number back and got the press #1 to activate the account, and then they want the credit card number. Definitely a credit card phishing scam.
Got a fishy call from 496 090 8001 say that my (inaudible) credit union card has been suspended because they suspect a third party has used it. It asked me to press '1' to be redirected. I did not press any key and after repeating the message three times, the call disconnected. Obviously a scam.
