So I got a call from 516-355-6233, the caller was an older female asking for a donation for the "Breast Cancer Survivor's Fund". She asked if I would support the organization again and if I would let them send out a mailer, only if a "pledge" a donation. I declined. I used *67 (blocked my number) and dialed the number back. The message was for the Long Island Park Police..., I also called back the number without *67 and the message was for the "Breast Cancer Survivor's Fund" The voice on both messages was from the same male voice. If the same number to 2 different "organizations" isn't suspicious, I'm not sure what is.
Caller sounded very official stating he was from Nassau County Police and that there is no problem. He was collecting pledges for a "youth fund" and I supposedly contributed $25 dollars last yr. and will I be matching it this yr. Told him to send me literature. He said of course they would send it including a SASE and a police sticker for my car but they needed at least a $15 pledge to make sending the literature worth while(?). I told him I don't do verbal pledges and he hung up.
Scam - There are many scam charities claiming to be associated with various Police groups. They are all scams. The NYS Attorney General says that none of the real police groups solicit donations over the phone, and advises that you just hang up.

I've been getting numerous calls from this number asking for a donation for the police.
I hope you can find the source and stop the calls.
Thanks
