So I got a call from 516-355-6233, the caller was an older female asking for a donation for the "Breast Cancer Survivor's Fund". She asked if I would support the organization again and if I would let them send out a mailer, only if a "pledge" a donation. I declined. I used *67 (blocked my number) and dialed the number back. The message was for the Long Island Park Police..., I also called back the number without *67 and the message was for the "Breast Cancer Survivor's Fund" The voice on both messages was from the same male voice. If the same number to 2 different "organizations" isn't suspicious, I'm not sure what is.
We've had calls for two days from 716-566-7975. Two or three rings and when you answer, they hang up. I called back once and got a message that, it part, asked for my response. They asked that I speak slowly and distinctly. I did: REMOVE THIS NUMBER FROM YOUR LIST!! DO NOT CALL AGAIN! GOOD-BY!
The organization "Long Island State Park Police PBA" is in fact a legitimate NYS recognized & federally recognized 501c5 non-for-profit organization. They are the PBA for the Long Island chapter of the NYS Park Police, a state police agency that patrols all state parks, beaches and historic sites and has jurisdictional police powers throughout all of NYS. The organization is legit and not a scam as some others have thought prior. The PBA (not the actual police force) solicits donations via their telemarketer from the public to help fund their educational programs for children, support police and law enforcement agencies throughout NYS and also allows them to support various local and regional charities.
