I set up an appointment & picked late afternoon so they would get caught in rush hour. A local guy shows up and hands me a card for Monarch Builders (CA Entity Number: C3621536) with a contractors license number on it. I told him I was expecting someone from Superb Builders (CA Entity Number: C3520533). He said it was the same company and showed me a bunch of pre-printed folios that contained their insurance, license number and other stuff. I don't get one of those until I sign a contract. Now I have enough to take them to court.
He called this morning and told me he was a contractor and had a business in Hillsborough. When I asked him on what street he was located, he said slowly, "I'm going to tell you right now." Then he hung up.
They keep calling saying they have done work for me in past and claiming they are in the area doing work for neighbors. I have asked to be taken off call list but they do not. Last time they said they were "Superb Builders" and I could check out their website. I think they are just a calling service trying to get business from anyone they can.
There are a LOT of companies with the name "Superb Builders". Some seem much better than others.
Putting that name in the BBB site, reveals one in Chicago ...
Here is a street view of that company's address.

First thing to note is the wonderful landscaping design (grin).
I think the fence around the property was intended to keep the rats IN.
The collapsed roof may have been intended for an indoor solarium... or, maybe, the meth cooker blew up?
Would you trust your cockroaches to that company?
:-)
Guy called said he was a "supervising contractor" in San Mateo county. I asked what that was, obviously caught him off guard the then said he supervised making appointments. I asked for his license number.. He said he didn't have one but the contractors that came out did. I asked him why he lied to me and he hung up.
