I came home from work and had a message from this woman stating that I had to call this number and gave me this phone number to call back on. something about being a state and legal problem and I had to use this case number she gave me. Then she said I had to call back before they started legal action. My boss told me if if was legal action, they would contact me by mail and not leave a message on the phone. Apparently this is a scam, so i just didn't call it back. She didn't give a company or even an lawyers name. if it was a legal situation, they would of at least given the name of the lawyer or attorneys office name.
Man named David Howard called me and said he had been retained to contact me regarding a complaint filed against me involving my social security number. He said he is trying to schedule an appointment to come to my place of residence or work. He also said I'd need to forms of identification. He said I may contact an attorney or call the office at 855-587-9445. Carol, you have been notified.

Among the alleged tactics that National Check Registry used was telling people they had committed check fraud or another crime and threatening them with lawsuits, garnishments, arrest or imprisonment if they didn’t pay. The FTC and the State of New York alleged that National Check Registry routinely told people they had to pay within 12 or 24 hours to avoid having a local court system or law enforcement agency come after them. Frequently, the company would tell a person’s family, friends and coworkers that the person committed a crime or was involved in a legal proceeding.
Shaun Page is the name of this person that has called. Left a vmail stating he has tried to reach me several times and that this is his last attempt. Lie. I've never received a call from this company before. Said he will be giving my file to the attorneys to issue a warrant. I called today, he said I need to pay my debt, from a payday loan earlier this year. That I'm being turned in for check fraud and stolen goods. I asked what company this was for, he told me. While this is a valid debt, I need to know if it is legal the way they threatened a "warrant". I would need 2 forms of ID at all times. That they would serve me at work, home or wherever they could find me. I at first was considering making a payment agreement with these people. I told them I can not do anything until the 25th period. They told me that wasn't good enough and they were turning me in. I made sure to ask, so is this a warrant to be taken to jail, and when the manager (I got transferred) said that I could not be taken to jail, I hung up. Please give me advice on how to deal with these people. Can this wind up in court when they are in New York and I'm in TN?
