I came home from work and had a message from this woman stating that I had to call this number and gave me this phone number to call back on. something about being a state and legal problem and I had to use this case number she gave me. Then she said I had to call back before they started legal action. My boss told me if if was legal action, they would contact me by mail and not leave a message on the phone. Apparently this is a scam, so i just didn't call it back. She didn't give a company or even an lawyers name. if it was a legal situation, they would of at least given the name of the lawyer or attorneys office name.

Total debt scam. The caller has nothing to do with law enforcement, he's a debt collector. Debt collectors have nothing to do with the police or arrests or anything else. This is just an attempt to scare some money out of you. Don't fall for it.
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening criminal prosecution to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act)
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them .

Recieved a call from a Mr. Wiles and he made threats of sending the sheriff's dept to serve my son and my son committed fraud against me. They had my name, all my old last names, my ssn, my date of birth, my son's information also. He really had me scared. Is there a way to press charges against these people?
They like to make false threats. Saying they will sure, report your ss #, sending a summons to court etc... Don't fall for their bs. They are formerly known as Unified PS Group, UNIFIED PORTFOLIO SERVICING LLC, UPS LLC and probably more. There is plenty about them if you look around. They use fake common names so if you do try and press charges, they will have their rears covered. It amazes me they continue to get away with this and are making probably millions on scamming and collecting outdated debts.
