Got a call from same number this morning. There are two people involved - First caller said his name is John Cruz and told me I have police complaint and legal affidavit against me. Asked me to call back once his supervisor is there. Later his "so-called" supervisor called by name David Marshall and said the same thing. Asked me to settle the matter quick. Was talking about the state tax evasion. The moment I said my CPA will contact you, he said we cannot help you and hung up. I called my local police department and let the officer know about this. He said these guys must be pranksters - ignore them or tell them that you have asked the state/local police to get involved - and they should back out.
Folks, I had a chat with a Magic Jack customer care person and asked him if there was any way to "Block" this MJ number. This is a rather difficult problem because the MJ devices are cheap and getting a number through them is fairly easy and cheap. The miscreants will get another number. In fact i just heard that a friend of mine received a similar phone call from a North Carolina number that was tracked down to a MJ device as well.

Received a phone call, I had already read this thread. Called back at the number, initially acted like I am concern about the ongoing investigation, the other end guy became super happy and told me that he can help me. Then I said while you are in middle of investigation, can you please include that you mother and I had fun by making out each other. He got real upset and threatend me that he will revoke my citizenship, I said please do that before cops come and get you.
I got the same voicemail this morning! Thanks for posting these comments on the web - that I could confirm in less than 5 minutes that this is a fake call and I don't need to respond!
Received a call from this number saying same thing as mentioned in several other complains above. I asked him which state so he scrambled and then looked up and said Georgia Georgia. Then I asked why is Georgia investigation center in New Jersey. Then he said we are federal and said 3 attorneys are listening. So I said what is the proof that you are genuine and not fraud. What other id you have? So he said I am acting smart and hung up! I called them back again and turned out it is a Magic Jack / voip number!!
I got the same phone call this morning! First person came on, asked me to hold, second person came on (sounded like the first person), then a 'Senior' Officer, third person ( who still sounded like the same idiot) came on to read me the affidavit of the 3 crimes that I was being investigated for! He said that I was being recorded and that I should not interrupt him while he was talking! The nerve of this man! He knew my name and address. Ask me to verify my info. I raised my voice to tell him that I had no idea who he was and I was not going to give him anything. He got mad, and threatened to have the police come and get me in 30 minutes, and put me away for 17 months, and they would also revoke my citizenship. I said ok. I did not give him any information. He hung up on me. I called the police and had an investigation report filed against these stupid scam artists. I hope that they get caught very soon and themselves be put behind bars for good! Fools.
