This is clearly a scam. Caller said her name was Annie Johnson. Her accent was incredibly thick, and she spoke in seriously broken English. Dept of Legal Affairs my a$$...
I received a call yesterday from 760-335-6113. A man named 'George Parker' left a message claiming that he was with Legal Affairs and was calling regarding a situation that needed immediate action by me. This man had a thick accent and it was difficult to understand all that he was saying, although he was obviously trying to scare me. I had a feeling this could be part of a scam and googled the phone number. I found all this helpful information here and am sad to hear that there have been so many victims who gave in to his threats.
Just received a call from someone saying they were from the Dept. of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury. There was an arrest warrant out for me--had I not received the CB503 Notice? 3 Allegations against me for 2011 taxes that were not filed correctly. They were calling to give me prior notice so now I would just have to wait for the Investigation Team to come arrest me for 6 months. What the heck? So glad I looked up the number to see it was a scam.
Had a message from a male voice (couldn't understand the name due to a very have Indian accent) telling me that he was from the Dept of Legal Affairs US Treasury and there was some sort of legal action being taking against me. He advised I call the 760-335-6113 # and then told me that I should probably have an attorney call for me. It was "very serious" legal matter.
Got the call. Usually don't answer but I did and did not say anything. No hello. Nothing. I heard, "hello, hello, hello. Um can you help me here? HELLO." Then they hung up. I had said nothing, held my breath and for once I did not have radio on. Immediately came here to check number out. Very interesting info. If I get a call from them again, will tell them to google their number. Thanks all.
Ditto here, thought the name was George Walker, thick heavy Indian accent. When I called back, a woman answered department of legal affairs, when I asked what that was she stated if you're going to ask me that that I don't want to speak to you.
