I'm up to 7 calls from this # today, at my work number. I'm no longer even bothering to pick up (I was leaving the receiver on my desk, not saying anything, till he hung up). How fun! (Sarcasm)
Received call from 856-204-0652, lots of background noise, said he was from UPS - United Parcel Service and that he wanted to verify my executives' address. He told me what he had and I told him it was correct but then he tried to verfiy his title - I didn't see how that was necessary for the "package" to get delivered. We went back and forth - him wanted to verify "Marketing" or "Marketing & Communications" I said either would work, he kept pressing and I finally just hung up. Seriously! I was born in the day - but not yesterday! Jerk!
I saw a call come in from this number, on my office phone. I ignored it - no message was left. My job does not involve doing business with anyone outside of my city, much less outside of my own company. I ignore more calls than I answer. I highly suspect that a good majority of the unsolicited calls and emails I receive are tied to my having a profile on LinkedIn. I've recently updated some of my settings and preferences at LinkedIn, which I didn't realize were revealing so much of my contact information. I'm afraid the damage is done though. If I ever get to the point where my office number and/or email changes, I will not be updating that information on LinkedIn.
