I'm up to 7 calls from this # today, at my work number. I'm no longer even bothering to pick up (I was leaving the receiver on my desk, not saying anything, till he hung up). How fun! (Sarcasm)
I received a call from this number at my office. I always answer my phone, Hello, this is ____, may I help you". And the accented fellow said my first and last name as a question. When I said it is, they hung up. I tried to call them back just in case we got disconnected and there was a message that this number is no longer in service. When I tried to call back the first time, I misdialed and entered 7 as the last number instead of 2 and there was a recording that I reached Magic Jack? What I wonder is how they got my office number AND my last name?!! How do you report this? Anyone know?
Number 856-204-0652 called and asked to confirm my title, then hung up. Called the number back, it's a Magic Jack number that has not been assigned to a customer.
Received a call on my office line from 856-204-0652 on 10/4/2013 at 9:39am EDT. Caller ID displayed "Vineland NJ".
I answered the call and anounced my full name. A male voice with a heavy Indian accent claimed to be with Bank of America and stated my full name and asked me to confirm my title and phone number. He actually knew my title but appeared to have difficulty pronouncing the english words. The phone number he had was incorrect.
I told him that I did not know who he was and I could not give out any information. He again repeated his request and I told him the same. He then hung up.
Since I know that Bank of America would not call asking for personal information this call was obviously a prank or an attempt at identity theft. The comments posted here support that assumption.
I have added this number to my block list.
One of the comments posted here mentioned that this caller called many times in rapid sucession without being answered but on the final call attempt the caller's number was displayed as +40 300041049. (The commenter answered this call.) This country code is from Romania. It is possible that during the many call attempts the caller's number spoofing failed and displayed the actual originating number.
Perhaps someone could try a reverse lookup on this number?
