I'm up to 7 calls from this # today, at my work number. I'm no longer even bothering to pick up (I was leaving the receiver on my desk, not saying anything, till he hung up). How fun! (Sarcasm)
I received several calls from 856-204-0652. The man with an Indian accent asked for a female person who is not here. He claimed he was calling from UPS and the person he was asking for had left a message. He said they work at our company that he was calling. When I informed him that there was no one here by that name who would have called him and left a message he said it must just be a misunderstanding and said goodbye and hung up. I called the number back and there was a message that said "The Magic Jack Customer you have called is not taking calls at this time. Please leave a message after the tone." Then there was a tone and I hung up.
Have been getting lots of calls from 213-285-0943 and now looks like same tactic coming from 856-204-0652. This is what I posted on the 213-285-0943 list: These accented callers have called our large company multiple times in a week. Main operators said they kept asking for sales reps, who only have voicemail boxes available through the switchboard. Having become suspicious of it they wanted me to figure out what's going on. Thanks to all this info (and lots of chuckles) now we're telling the accented caller the name isn't in our directory. Putting them through to the vm box in a way confirms the person works here because the rep states their name in the greeting.
A man with a heavily accented voice has called my work number four times this morning, asking for various people. The fourth time I became quite rude with him, asked him for his name (didn't provide it), company name (claimed he was calling from the University of Something, didn't get it--BTW, I work at a university), didn't provide a manager name. When I told him I was sick and tired of receiving calls and that I had work to do and stop calling this number (I had given him our university switchboard #), he hung up.
It remains to be seen whether he, or someone else from the same number, calls back a fifth time today.
Just an update to say that yes, this number has called for a fifth time so far today, though I didn't pick up. So "do not ever call this number again" is meaningless to them.
