Have been calling several times a day for over a month. They are trying to solicit payment history information for our customer to build their "payment history" database.
They make it seem like an urgent matter with a case number asking us to resolve this important matter for our customer. The number they leave to call back just rings with no answer. 866-658-3140
I called the 973-929-3290 number and told them what happened with the other number, that we do not give out that kind of information about our customers, and to please stop calling. They pretend not to know anything about it then transfer me back to the unanswered 866 number. I did get put through to someone's voice mail after calling the 973 number back after they put me through to the unanswered 866 number. I again asked them to stop calling, that we do not give out that information, and that we are seriously annoyed at the interruptions and wasted time and resources. They called again after that in the afternoon. Complaint filed with FTC and will never do business with D&B or its affiliates again.
Said they were with Dan & Bradstreet and needed to update their credit information for our company. Said they are unable to give a call back number. If legitimate company, they would have that available so smart people like us can verify their legitimacy. Told them "Then we are not interested"
guess who called back again . the second time in one day...big surprise...not.
answered phone and interupted man on line with "This is the second time your company has called today. I told you we aren't interested then since refused to give call back number...remove us from all calling lists. You will be reported."
Dead silence on the line and finally he hung up. I am still giggling, cause it seemed like he did not know what hit him and how to respond......hee hee
A lady called today asking for one of our customer's information regarding a credit reference. We advised her we cannot give out our customers information and if she was looking for a credit reference, she would need to contact accounting and have something in writing. She then tried to pry information out of one of our customer service rep's, asking for her full name and job position. I'm used to these calls so I usually know what is & what isn't usually a scam, however my CS rep's aren't usually aware so this concerns me!
Not sure who it is... they say its D&B. Frankly being a business owner, I always tell any telemarketer that this line is only for placing an order. Place an order, or please take this number off their call list.
I do not need to give away any of our business information to even the most credible sources. IRS and State Tax Boards our info, as do clients who want to purchase a service from us.
