My caller said he was from "WINDOWS Support" not Microsoft. There is a difference. Microsoft is trademarked, copyrighted etc. windows is not and can't be. Anyone can say they work for windows, Microsoft is a different story.
He got all huffy when I called hin a "pakistani scammer". In retrospect his English was so good he is probably Filippino.
Man with Asian accent called and asked to speak to Mr. or Mrs. <butchered pronunciation of our last name>. When I told him "This is Mrs. <actual pronunciation of last name>", he immediately hung up. Very strange.
We got a call early on Saturday morning, meaning 8:30 am. My wife, who is disabled, picked it up, but I came into the room to determine who was calling us so early. The Indian voice on the other end started his spiel, but I interrupted him and asked him if he was calling from Microsoft and he said yes. That is when I used some not so kind words to tell him that this was a scam and hung up on him. Thanks to this and similar websites, I was able to quickly confirm that this was a scam call.
Asked for my husband by his full name (he passed away 6 years ago). Then started telling me he was calling from Microsoft Windows about my computer. I told him I didn't need any help with my computer and hung up and googled the number.
Told me that were from Window support and my computer had been hacked and wanted to clean it. I hung up on them. They told me I could never use my computer again because they would block it.
