My caller said he was from "WINDOWS Support" not Microsoft. There is a difference. Microsoft is trademarked, copyrighted etc. windows is not and can't be. Anyone can say they work for windows, Microsoft is a different story.
He got all huffy when I called hin a "pakistani scammer". In retrospect his English was so good he is probably Filippino.
Received 2 calls from this number (11:25AM and 2:59PM) today. I took the second call. They guy with a foreign accent asked for me. I asked who was calling and he said he was from Microsoft and asked me how I was. I told him I'm fine, my computer is fine and to take this (my number) off his list!
Like others who have posted, the caller had an Indian accent and told me my computer had been compromised. I played along for a few minutes just to suck him in and then told him he could do me a big favor by calling the FBI and turning himself in. He then got verbally abusive and used very obscene language. I reported the call to the FCC. Someone ought to shut these guys down.
I too got a phone call this morning and it was a foreign accent. She tried telling me that my computer was hacked and she was shutting it down so I could never use it ever again. I asked for her credentials and a call back number as well as a address and her last name so I could confirm with Microsoft that she was an employee. She told me that was too personal Of information. I told her there is no way she was associated with Microsoft because her customer service sucked. She got extremely obscene with me because I wouldn't turn on my computer. She ended up telling me I'll never be able to use my computer again and she was done wasting her time on me. Haha!
I also was called by this person who identified himself as being from Microsoft and wanted me to go to a specific location on my computer. I told him that I didn't believe him and hung up. He called backed 3 times asking why I hung up. We reported this number to Microsoft.
Caller claimed to be from Microsoft and said I had a virus on my computer. For a fee he will remove it for me. I told him he was full of [***] and hung up.
These scammers mis represent themselves and should be locked up.
