Called me and I foolishly gave them info on my card, then called my card company to stop my card and issue another, just had a feeling that they were not on the level. Then discovered all these comments, glad I stopped my card!!
Caller Id said it was "Out of Area" -- I let it got to message. Heard the pitch about lowering my interest rates and about pressing 9. I never picked up. I then put the number in my call block list with the telco.
Neither our elected representatives nor law enforcement will stop these people...
I'm ready to break off with my phone company and just do without a phone.
This sort of scam generally results in a charge of near $1000 being added to your credit card if you are gullible enough to give your information. The exact amount is high, but low enough to prevent federal investigation. NEVER ever give your account information to anyone who calls you without full and proper identification. It's your phone--demand satisfaction from anyone who calls you before you volunteer anything.
Got a missed call. This isn't the first time. I'm sure it's a scam. I'm sure they can be turned in to the FBI if they continue or are successful with obtaining your information.
