They asked for the one of my Software guys, he doesn't do IT - She asked to speak to the IT Manager. I told her I needed to more information before I could put her call through or take a message. She totally was unprepared and obviously under trained to respond. She asked to be transferred - when I said I needed a call back number in order to refer her to anyone in our company, she told me it was her company's policy not to give out their phone number. Red Flag I was looking for. After denying that she hung up. The poor girl was so badly trained I now feel a tiny remorse for being tough on her by putting her on the spot, but that's what I do.
15 calls in an hour 15 calls and I began to realize that these people are phishing for information. After the 15th call I asked my boss what to do. She advised me to simply tell them no one is available. I did and the lady kept listing off names of people in It in a very bad accent. I just kept telling her no no no no no no and finally hung up, i am putting out a memo about them to everyone in the office...No one in "Software" has people yelling and hammers in the background.
They first called me a few weeks ago, I came back from lunch and saw they called 5 times or so; I thought that was rather spam-tastic so I looked the number up and found this page and lo and behold, they're spam. They call me probably 10 times a day, once they left a voicemail that was incoherent mumbling. I should probably find a way to block them, I would answer and tell them to stop but that seems to be pretty useless with such callers.
Basically did the same as most...just said "if we're interested we'll call you...what's your number?" we're a call center here he replied...I just blocked his number in the PBX...No more calls.
Foreign sounding woman asking for someone in our IT department. Asked her for a name and she again repeated she wanted to speak with someone in IT. I told her I can't transfer without the correct contact name. She then got an attitude and said "Wait a minute" if a very rude voice. I waited and then she gave me three different names of people. None which work here. After telling the witch that no one by those names work here and that she may have the wrong number, she replied with "Are you sure"? WTF? Really? Am I sure? I told her I didn't have to be sure and hung up on her.
The caller was literally offended and became beligerant when I had informed of our company's policy and that the IT team is too busy to accept calls. They were kindly requested to leave messages in their respective party's voice mails but instead I was told that he "will inform his hire ups that our company does not except calls from Microsoft." And he hung up.
And since then they have called 9 times, in a very short period of time. But our company's policy didn't change.
When does it border on harrassment???
