By calling the POLICE (I hope NOT 911). What would you being saying to them (as to the nature of your call)?
"aaahhh, Hello, POLICE DEPT:......
It’s almost midnight and I just now got a phone call from someone (i.e. a solicitor)trying to sell me a newspaper subscription from the SF Chronicle and I want to make a complaint because they shouldn't be calling people this late at night." etc, etc...
By calling the police, it would fall into the same category as to this story:
LIKE THE RECORDING OF A PERSON WHO HAD CALLED 911 because....
there was a spider in there house and the person calling, feared spiders, and they were afraid it was going to bite them and wanted the spider out of there house.....
Like everyone here I also have been getting calls around 8pm. I never answer since the # is not on my list. This is on my prepaid cell phone.
Also been getting calls from......CALL1.....???? what that's about.
Got couple calls within a week. Both at midnight and waken me up. First time I said hello and no voice from the other end for a few seconds. Then hang up. I didn't pick it up the second time.
These guys call twice a day, and have for weeks. Anytime of day, starting at 9:30 a.m. Never anyone on the line, except heavy breathing (sometimes) and then the distinct sound of a hang-up.
It sounds, from the other posts here, that it's Turnkey Solutions, doing some solicitation for newspapers, and it sounds like they're dialing nineteen numbers at once, and talking to the first one that picks up.
I know it's crazy, but it also sounds like the guys on line get "credit" for the number of phone calls placed, as logged on some phone rolls their employer checks, whether or not they sell anything.
In any event, they're doing their employers no favor. Newspapers are in enough disfavor, without adding all these (us) frustrated victims to the mix.
