just received the identical call. Told caller I have many grandsons and tell me your first name. Caller hung up. Got to find a way of getting rid of these kinds of calls. Number is now blocked on my phone
Called at 6:30 AM. "Hi Grandma" sounded like a call center as I could hear voices in the background- obviously a scam. A similar call came through to my MIL in which they asked her to wire money. Wish there was a "scam" option in the drop down menu as I really don't consider this a simple "prank".
"Grandson" calling to be bailed out of jail. Got in an accident, had broken ribs and was jailed for DUI. Gave the name Brian and said he was allowed 1 phone call.
These individuals used the Grandma thing on my Mom. They used my sons name and coerced my unknowing mother into sending money.3 transfers all around $2000.00. They said he was in an accident, dui, broken nose, and the whole attorney thing. Even went as far as to say he was being charged with murder for an unborn baby. Money was wired to Jenny Guerrier, Lynn, Ma. Ryan Patrick McMahon,Des Moines, Iowa. Attorney posed as someone named Henry Gapes. Hope this helps someone before it's too late.
