I set up an appointment & picked late afternoon so they would get caught in rush hour. A local guy shows up and hands me a card for Monarch Builders (CA Entity Number: C3621536) with a contractors license number on it. I told him I was expecting someone from Superb Builders (CA Entity Number: C3520533). He said it was the same company and showed me a bunch of pre-printed folios that contained their insurance, license number and other stuff. I don't get one of those until I sign a contract. Now I have enough to take them to court.
I sent 2 certified letters to Superb Builders and Oceanside Builders. The Oceanside one was picked up at the Post Office. Though the agent and owner of Superb Builders is also listed as the Responsible Managing Officer on Oceanside. Google map shows the official, state registered address of Superb Builders to be a run down apartment.
They are part of a large team representing different named companies run by the same people to sell you the services of an unlicensed contractor. The companies are Superb Builders, Monarch Builders and Oceanside Builders. One contractors license is not valid for the whole state or any sub-contractor they hire. There must be reasonable oversight by the licensed contractor.
