....that this number is a Mobile phone - Broadsoft/XO Virginia SMSEnabled!

This alleged Joann Smith person called my cell phone.  She actually had the name of a relative of mine and the State in which she lives.  Her message states that my name was listed as a "possible of person of interest" related to a law suit being filed against my relative.  She, too, left me a case number and said this was her "final attempt to assist [me]."  What a bunch of horse sh*t.  I called back and got the same voice as the one on the voice mail, I told her I had a case number and she said "OK, let's start there."  I said, "I'm sorry, whom did you say you were representing?"  She got rude and told me her that she just told me her name was Joanne Smith and then hung up.   So glad this web site tags her number as a fraud and scammer.  Number came up on caller ID as "Restricted."

BBB has seen a major increase in collection agencies setting up businesses in the Upstate New York area over the past several years.  In an effort to keep consumers informed about which collection agencies are operating in accordance with Federal Law,  we are asking for specific information from all collection agencies operating in our service area.  The requests includes the following:

:Federal Employee Identification Number-EIN
:Proof Of Licensing, bonding and or registration by the city, town in which your business is located.
:Proof of licensing required by any state in which you operate by mail or telephone or email.
This collection agency has not responded to our requests.
BBB advises consumers to be aware of their legal rights in regard to collections.  The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is a statue enacted in 1978 which seeks to eliminate abusive and harassing behavior by any debt or collection agency.  The act states specific practices and rules under which debt collectors must abide by.  There are penalties for agencies found breaking these laws.  Some of these laws state that a collection agency is forbidden to harass a debtor, which includes threatening violence or legal action.  They may not use crude or offensive language or identify themselves as anyone other than by their business name.  If a consumer believes a debt or collection agency has violated any of the FDCPA laws the BBB encourages them to file complaints with the BBB at bbb.org and Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov

I Just Received A Call From This # 716-242-5202, The Person Said Her Name Is Joan Smith, & That She Is A Detective Of Some Sort, Calling In Regards To My Relative Of Which I Have Not Heard From In Several Years! She Said Some Very Disturbing Lies! I Know For A Fact That I Have Not Heard From That Family Member In Years! Not To Mention That Family Member Does Not Have My Phone # !!! & I Do Not Have That Family Member #!!!  When I Called That Person's # (NAME & # THAT'S LISTED ABOVE)  It Were An Answering Service That Stated It Were The Corporation Group LLC of The Oracle Group Office Of A Ms. Joan Smith??? I Lefted A Message Stating That I am Putting A Detective On This Call !!!!!!

I tried to talk to these people but the settlement they wanted was outrageous and about 10 times what I actually owed. I explained I haven't worked in a year and a half and all she did was call me a liar and a thief.  She said I know you're working and I'm going to call your place of business to let them know you're a thief.  I have a commission point job with no money coming in yet.  Trust me I paid my bills when I had an income. They are rude, heartless people. I don't know how they talk to people this way by threatening to ruin someone's life,  take them to jail when things are hard enough already.They said they are filling theft charges on me and a judgment.  I pray this is all just threats.
