FTP - No idea who they are or what they do....but they are not calling for any legit reason, its a cold call.
An EXTREMELY rude and whiny (it was almost comical) lady called today and asked for John. We have (withing the C-Level alone) 6 Johns. I asked which John she needed.
"Well, the owner of the company."
Red Flag #1 - She doesn't know who she is calling. I answer the phone for a holding company, so there are at least 8 different "owners".
I told her I answer the phone for several companies, and asked her which one was she referring to?
Red Flag #2 - She SLAUGHTERED the name of the company (it's phonetic, and not hard at all), which usually means she has no legit business.
Wanted to set up a meeting to discuss our business getting their Credit and debit card terminals. I am assuming like the ones you see in stores and restaurants. Told the guy we are not a store-front business and to please not call again. He was very polite. Hope this helps everyone!! Simply say you are the owner no matter what so they don't hang up, then tell them to stop calling.
Lady by the name of Amber called and asked to speak to a manager/owner regarding future payment processing. After telling her manager was not available and if I could take a message; she said it was only a courtesy call and she will try to call again another time. GREAT !!!
The issue that many of you don't understand is that the callers are paid for every appointment that they set up. The person calling is NOT the person who will show up at your door.
So what our company started doing was actually setting up appointments with these people. We would tell them that they needed to speak with "Mr. Remmacs". (Read it backwards). They would show up for the meeting and we would make them wait in the lobby. All day. When they would get upset, we would simply tell them that we decided to waste their time, just like they wasted ours.
