I had the same issue with Michael Montero very abusive and nasty. We agreed to settle a balance for August 22,2009 and I get a letter stateing that they will withdraw moies from my account on 7/22/09. This idiot straight out told me that oh! well this is the date so I told him that I will be canceling my checking acct. I was in good faith to pay my debt in august but then I get this wicked letter. Some thing has to me done with this guy Michael Montero. I bet this is not even his real name.
These people keep calling my house looking for the previous tenent (I am renting the house). I got this number less than one year ago so it was not even her former number. I tried explaining that to the person from this company, he said his name is Jackson Stone, but he insisted that I knew the person he was looking for and said that he would call back every half hour until I have him her number. He refused to give me the phone number for the company he represents so I had to *69 to get the number. I explained the situation to Beth, the secretary, and she said that she removed my number from their files. She also told me that they are located in Florida but I see that they are actually in Saint Charles,MO. I have contacted my state Attorney General's office and am filing an official complaint.
Everyone should contact their state Attorney General's office about this guy. I have already done so and am filing a complaint. I also think we should start calling them every day and maybe they will get the point.
Called me at work, caller was from the office of...., I ask them not to call me at work any longer. They then asked to be tranferred to my Human Resources dept.
I called their bluff and did so, nothing further.
of the numerous phone calls they've made (well over 30 as they've called at least once a day since April 3rd -- including Saturday and Sunday), they have only left messages twice. both times the threatening tone of voice and the message ("...calling regarding case # XXXX; your or your attorney need to call back...."). Neither time have they said who they are, where they're calling from, or for what reason. Sounds like a scam or attempt to frighten people into compliance with some shady action. Learning it is a collection agency makes more illegitimate and inappropriate their messages as they ought to be professional and leave clear specifics as to the reason they are calling. Since i'm not in arrears with any of my creditors, i can only assume they've got the wrong number. Since they're rude, and calling a spare phone that i don't carry on me anyhow, i'm fine to let them waste their time. However, were it my only and/or primary phone, i'd be livid as they haven't behaved in a responsible nor professional manner and i'd hesitate to work with them on settling a debt as they're tactics are underhanded and dirty. They need a lesson on human nature. Most people want to settle their debts but don't respond well to harassment. Jerks.
I am getting calls from two different people there regarding my credit card debt. I am to "give my side of the story before they make their final decision." Not to mention that I have not yet received correspondence within 5 days in writting as per 809 (a) of FDCPA.
